Once I arrived I checked into my room which was really lovely, it was a little cabin with a hammock outside overlooking the resort which was beautiful in itself! We were quite hungry and had no food on us so got a cheeseburger from the barbecue that the hostel workers put on.
There wasn't a lot going on at this hostel as it was literally in the middle of nowhere but after 3 nights of drinking on Fraser Island I didn't mind, I also had a cold so a couple of early nights meant it cleared pretty quickly!
The next day we went to the beach which was beautiful and had a chill out day. Not too much to say on this. Interesting fact about 1770 - the tattoo parlour there will do your tattoo or piercing for free if you go in naked!
The next day I decided to do Scooteroo as it was meant to be one of the top 5 things to do on the east coast. It would have been hadn't I completely crashed and burned. It's basically a scooter/motorbike thing and you drive it around the town of Agnes Water and 1770 and see kangaroos, all the scenery and the sunset. I just about managed to do the test track however as everyone left the hostel I couldn't control it, couldn't get it around the corner and proceeded to crash and have the bike fall on top of me! I ended up on the back of one of the leaders bikes but still had a good time as they went a lot faster than everyone else and I got to see loads of cool things without having to concentrate on driving.
After that embarrassment I then got on a 15 hour overnight bus to Townsville to
Meet Pippa at Magnetic Island for the full moon party. It was so long and I was overtired, felt disgusting and a bit miserable in the last 5 hours but it was eventually worth it. Once we got the ferry over to Magnetic Island it was beautiful.
The hostel was in such a lovely location looking out over the sea and the music and atmosphere was already buzzing . we got ourselves ready and got our faces painted and covered in glitter and the it was party time. The band Thundamentals were playing who I haven't actually heard of but I love live music and again everyone was having a really good time. The party went on till 5:30am and they had night ferry's going too and fr Townsville but I crashed at 3 and was grateful I was staying in the hostel!
Again the next day was a chill day. We sat by the pool and in the hammocks and made the most of the weather and the scenery.
The next day I was heading back to Airlie Beach - the stop I missed between Agnes Water and Townsville which is where I had to go for my Whitsundays Trip. It was another 5 hour bus journey but anything seems short compared to the one before!
Once I arrived I checked in again and went for a drink with some friends that night before having another early one to prepare for my trip.
I've just got back from it and had an absolutely amazing time but I will write about that in the next post so for now you can enjoy this one!
