Sorry I've been late posting again, since getting to the states it's been pretty full on with all the moving around and I haven't had much time to write!
That afternoon we picked up another one of my cousins Madison and spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool. I also had my first look around target as I had to get yet another hoodie as another one had gone missing :( in the evening Lucille and I headed over to Heather and Nate's where I met Nate and another cousin Hudson for the first time! Me, Heather and Lucille went for a beer at a brewery which was nice and then headed back for the night.
On Tuesday I went into downtown San Diego. I found a Forever 21 in the Westfield Shopping Centre where I got a bit carried away at how cheap everything was and came out with 2 bags full! I then found a really cool pizza place for lunch where you make your own pizza and headed off down to the Seaport Harbour. I had a wander around and took in all the sights and eventually came across some really cute shops and scenery so that kept me busy as there was so much to look at.
I then headed back to Vista to meet Lucille and we met up with Heather, Nate, Madison and Hudson and also Jeremy who is another one of Lucille's children, I've lost track of how we're all related so I'm just going to refer to everyone as cousins! We went for a Mexican and had Margaritas which were lovely then headed over to an ice cream sandwich parlour which involved 2 cookies with ice cream in the middle - sooo good!
On Wednesday I spent the day with Jeremy's wife Rachael and 2 of her children Levi and another cousin Jonah who was so adorable! I got to see Coronado beach which was beautiful and we also made a stop at Old a Town San Diego and had some fresh tortillas which were cooked right on the side of the road. I love Mexican food so California is great to fill that craving!
We then went over to La Jolla Cove which is a really cute little beach where there are seals everywhere and they swim around you and come up and play on the shore. It was really cool to be that close to them! We also walked down into the cave and had a look around that which was cool.
Again that night we went for dinner to Terry Cafe which is one of their favourite restaurants and I can see why. I had teriyaki chicken and a whole sushi roll with rice and salad. The portion was massive and it tasted so good!
The Thursday was my last day and I was aiming to go to the zoo however I didn't feel great and it would have been a really long day so I decided to give it a miss and just enjoy relaxing in home comforts before I went to another hostel. That evening was Ethan's graduation which I was really kindly invited too. It was fun to see a proper American graduation and it was really nice that I was able to be there.
We all went for pizza after which was really goo and then I had to say my goodbyes to everyone as I was leaving early Friday morning. Everyone made me feel so welcome and I'm so grateful to have been able to stay and see San Diego and I will most definitely be back asap!
On the Friday morning I got the train over to Hollywood, Los Angeles and checked into my hostel there. Unfortunately I still wasn't feeling great but I still went out onto Hollywood Boulevard to have a look around. I saw the infamous walk of fame and did a sightseeing tour all around Beverly Hills. The houses are amazing there and I could quite happily live there!
We also saw Rodeo Drive and Sunset Strip which are both as equally beautiful. Much nicer than hollywood which isn't particularly nice. America have a lot of homeless people so I wouldn't say I felt the safest. Anyway due to feeling ill I stayed in that night.
The next day after a trip to the doctors I decided to take it easy. I had a free ticket to Madame Tussaud's so had a wander through there and also bought a couple of souvenirs before heading back to the hostel and checking into the hotel to meet my group for the next tour!
That's where I'll leave it for the time being and I shall update you all soon on my West Coast trip which was incredible!
Speak soon!
With love, Lauren x
